How to change Field Configuration for particular Issue Type

Debankur Ghosh September 15, 2020

My Project has two Issue types:

1. Defect
2. Test

and two Field Configurations :

1. Default Field Configuration
2. Test Field Configuration

Both the issue types are mapped to Default Field Configuration. How can I change the Field Configuration for Test issue type and set Test Field Configuration for it.

Please help. Thanks!!

The field configuration tells an issue how to behave for each field, but you tell a project which field configuration to use for each issue type with a field configuration scheme.

If you look at the field configuration scheme for your project, that is where you will be able to set things like "defect = use default field config" and "test = use test field config".

Be careful to check that your field configuration scheme is not used by many projects - if it is, you will be affecting all of them if you change it, which you might not want.  If you do just want to change on project, you will need a new field configuration scheme.

image.pngimage.pngHi,
I am not able to map the Test Field configuration with Test issue type. Kindly let me know if that can be done in this case.

So, the First Screenshot is the Field Configuration scheme screen.I have assigned Test to Test Field Configuration.

When I check the Issue Type Screen (2nd screenshot) ,the Field Configuration is set to Default Field Configuration for Test issue type.

My guess is that in the second screen shot, you are looking at a project using a different Field Configuration Scheme.

In your project, can you double check you have applied the new Field Config Scheme?

Debankur Ghosh September 15, 2020

Sure, let me check and confirm.

Thanks!!

Is there a way how I can double check this if it is applied to my project?

Hi,

Is it possible to rename a mandatory field in Test case?

To check if a field configuration scheme is applied to a project, read the project configuration settings - the fields section will name all the schemes currently used.

To rename a field, go to Admin -> Custom fields and edit it.  It doesn't matter if it is mandatory or applied to certain issue types.
