When I set up my project, Jira did not let me choose a different template than Agility.
We have added quite a lot of stories to the project but would like to move the whole project to the Kanban template which much better suits our needs (we need Epics, Tasks, Sub-Tasks, and multiple configurable boards which is not provided by Agility).
I checked the Project Settings but there is no option to change to the "classic" templates. How can this be achieved?
There is no way to add sub-tasks in Agility board. This is bad :(
I was happy with minimal setup but not having sub-tasks is too minimal.
Now I cannot convert this project to another setup. This is so....bad.
Hello All, I'm de JIRA admin for my company, also dealing with this limitation, JIRA should work on this feature since I have seen it many time in discussion. What I sadly do to bypass this limitation is create another project with the template I want to use and move all the tickets to it, it works but isn't ideal. Hope this helps someone :)
Regards.

Been having the same issue, it looks like it could be a permission issue, only admins can create projects with a template such as Scrum/Kanban.
If you are logged in as a standard user the only project you can create is the agility one, have a look at this post:

Hello Jan,
If you have already created an Agility project, it won't be able to convert the project type to another one (such as Software or Business).
The Agility project type is a new kind of projects that any user (with the correct global permission) can create, however, they have some limitations, and this is one of the limitations.

Do you have a way to convert the simple Agility projects into more useful Kanban/Scrum projects in JIRA cloud?
Projects&Teams grows, JIRA should have a way to scale that.

I'm also interested in this option. Is there a way to convert an existing Agility board into a Kanban or Scrum board?

I've also fallen down the "Agility" rabbit hole, and created a pretty extensive project. I wanted to add sub-tasks to my board but discovered that Agility is almost un-configurable.
It would be nice to be able to migrate it over to a different board, or even just give me my sub-tasks ):

Dear @janbernloehr,
there is no single switch to change all settings of a project at once. You have to do this manually. Changing Screen and Field Configuration switch are not a big deal. But for Issue Type an Workflow you have to follow the migration wizard to map between two schemes.
Alternatively you can search for some plugins, that do the work for you.
So long
Thomas

I dont see how I can do this with the Agility template. The project preferences do not offer any options when compared to the classic projects.

Then you have to ask your administrator to do this for you.

Dear Thomas, I am the administrator of my Jira Cloud Project. For the classic templates I can go to settings and see all the options there but for the new Agility template projects I do not have any options except for Issue Types (which only shows Story and nothing else...)
