How to configure Project's Open Issues Filter

Each time I navigate to a project and list its issues, I want the Filter to be set to or default to "My open issues" not "Open issues".

Is that possible to do?

I'm afraid it's not possible without code, as you'd need to amend the view screen that defaults it all there.

It's a bit annoying to have to conscientiously make a couple more mouse clicks, but we'll have to live with it I guess.

Yeah, it is annoying.  Like you, the filter I need is usually "open and Nic's problem".
