Hello, I want to copy issues from a project to another without delting it in the initial one. With move it delets it. The only solution i found is to clone all the issues then move the cloned ones, i was just wondering if you have a better solution for this please?
Hi @medjouti - The clone function will always copy the issue to the existing project. I see you're on Jira Server. Do you have the Jira Automation add-on from the marketplace (It's free and created by Atlassian)?
If so, automation supports cloning to a separate project. You could create a manual automation rule called something like Clone to Project X. This would appear in the "More" menu options when inside the issue.
hello, thak you so much for your answer, regarding the plugin, is it this one please : https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1211836/automation-for-jira-server-lite?hosting=server&tab=overview ?

It looks like it may have changed. The link you provided is correct, but I don't recall there being two tiers to the app so I'm not sure what "Lite" will get you.
Important note - Jira Server is going End of Life in about a year so you should be looking into migrating to Data Center or Cloud which include automation natively.

Just to clarify something - move does not delete the issue, it moves it. The issue key changes because the project has changed, but the rest of the data on the issue is kept in the same place. Even the unique key in the database remains the same. No data is removed (unless the target project does not have the fields the source project does), and an entry is added to the "moved issues" table.

I did some tests on a project and the issue is actually disappearing from the initial project, I mean, even if it is still in the database, it does not appear anymore

Yes, an issue will be removed from a project if you move it to another one. That is what "move" means.
There is no delete here, it's a move.

thank you so much for your answer, the problem is that the Move operation deletes (or hides?) the issue in the initial project and we want to keep it.
