How to copy original estimate value from one linked issue to another

Vygandas Skrodenis May 29, 2019

Hi,

I'm currently dealing with problem as received requirements that there are two projects in Jira Project A and Project B . In project A issue linked to project B. In project B IT needs to estimate how much time it would take them to complete task. So in this case I've wondered is there any way to take original estimated value from issue in project B and copy same value to project A, as both issues are linked together

Hi Vygandas,

There is not a native method to do this however copying a field value to a linked issue can be accomplished using the app add-on "Jira Misc Workflow Extensions" on a workflow post function to copy over the value, additional details on this particular post function can be seen in their documentation here:

Hi Earl,

Thanks for answer, I've used in this case similar add-on JSU-utilities, and managed to take field value from linked issue located in another project. However it only goes as post function under transition. In my case, i have requirements, that field value should update automatically. I'm trying to create rule with Automation for Jira , to trigger transition in project A based on custom field value entered in project B.

Maybe have any suggestions how can i pull this off.

Thanks,

Vygandas
