Hi @satyendra.b.singh

Not sure what you've tried - but this is how we've done it:

  • Create a new Group in User Management - Read Only
  • Add users to the group you want to have read only access
  • Ensure this group has Application Access to Jira - otherwise, users would need to keep the standard 'jira-software-users' group which has edit rights - this can be achieved under Applications > Application access, and adding your new Read Only group.

^ This provides the users with read-only access, based on project permission scheme(s) allowing 'Any Logged In User' the Browse Projects permission.

If any of your permission scheme(s) allow 'Any Logged In User' to do other things - such as comment or move issues - the Read Only users would get access to do these as well. It's important to ensure both the Groups and the Permission Schemes are set up to handle the read-only users.

Let me know if you need any further instruction :)

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the solution. I have tried it, but not working.

If I give only site access, user is not able to access the project.

To give access to project , I need to give access on product. and i have only two product access option and both have edit rights.

Your thoughts on it please?

Regards,
Satya

Hi @satyendra.b.singh

In your project permission scheme, who has permission to Browse Projects?

You need to ensure this user group has at least 'Browse Projects' access within the permission scheme(s) attached to projects you want them to access.

An alternative if all groups should see your projects is to allow 'Any logged in user' to Browse Projects, which would then encompass all groups of users.

You can edit permission schemes via Jira Administration > Issues > Permission Schemes.
