In Jira Cloud I have Roadmap feature as Beta. I am trying to use it, but I am not able to figure out how. Per the documentation: Set up the roadmap it specifies that in order to make it works the Start date and Due date need to be configured the field layout for epics to set these dates, the link provides a generic reference about field configuration, but not about these specific ones.
This is how I indicate in the Default Issue Screen to visualize both Start Date and Due Date:
in the Default Issue Screen, then I can see Start Date, but not Due Date, I can add Due Date in the card layout in the board, so the field is there, but in the issue detail view the information doesn't show:
so because I am no able to set up both values I can not move the bars in the roadmap, and it shows:
No Due Date, No Start Date in the roadmap, so I can not move the epic in the time-schedule.
I was trying to find some video or documentation about how to set up the RoadMap so I can make it works, but I was not able to find something specific.
It is a very useful tool once I figure out how to use it.
Thanks for any help,
David
Trying to find some workaround to this problem I found the root cause of this problem.
I was trying to create a new epic issue, then to add DUE DATE field, i.e. Create->Configure Fields->Where is my Field?-> Add DUE DATE in the search box. Jira is able to find it, but it shows the following message about it:
so the issue may be related with my user or Permission. I am the Jira Admin, but I did not add myself as a member of the project, so I did it as Administrators and the problem persists. Then I realized that maybe the issue is the Permissions and for Schedule Issues permission only the following roles have it:
so Administrators don't have such permission, then I changed my role to Scrum Master and finally, I was able to drag and drop the epic in the RoadMap:
It is weird to me that even a Product Owner cannot change the road map.
What I don't really understand is how come after 18 years in the market this tool is so little user friendly
@David Leal I am glad you found the solution for this. :) and Yes, I forgot to mention this in my previous response. For setting up the Due date field, you need to have schedule issues permission. I know with lot of permissions in place , it can be frustrating at times.

@David Leal It might be possible that there is another DUE date field specific to the roadmaps. Can you check with your Jira admins and see if you can add the field to your project screen scheme and then verify it?

I am afraid that this is not the root cause of my problem. I am one of the Jira Admin.
This is my Field Configuration:
The DUE DATE field is there and I see my project screen assigned:
In my Issue Type Scheme I am using he project default Scren Scheme and the Default Field Configuration:
