How to make target start / target end a "required field"

Kevin Dickson January 10, 2024

I would like to have the red asterisk appear alongside the "Target Start and Target End fields, i.e. to make them *required* fields.
I know I can do this in the workflow, but this won't bring up the red asterisk alerting the user during the create stage.

I need this on my Epics screen (Create only) so that the creator of an epic can indicate the target start.

Thank you in advance for any assistance.

@Kevin Dickson

For company-managed projects, you determine requiredness through field configurations.  The best thing for you is to create a field configuration, set Target Start and Target End to required on it, then associate the new field configuration to Epics on the project's field configuration scheme.  Your project will need its own field configuration scheme so that Epics in other projects don't have Target Start and Target End as mandatory (unless that's what you want).

Details are here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/manage-issue-field-configurations/

Thank you so much, @Robert Wen_Cprime_
And my apologies for the late acknowledgement from me.
I'll try this and revert.

Target start and Target end both are Locked fields and cannot be set as Required through the field configuration.

Through workflow validator these field can be set as Required.

Thank you,

Ashish

I stand corrected.
