How to make the work description field mandatory

Hi all,

When jira users log work for their tasks sometimes they miss to add worklog comment (work description). So, in order to omit this, I need to make the work description field mandatory. Basically whenever a user logs work, he/she should be asked to add work log comment as well. It would be a great support if I could get a solution on this :)

Normal flow that users follow to add worklog - Go to the relevant Jira ticket -> click on the three dotted icon at the top right corner of the screen -> log work -> then the log work screen appears (this screen is not a customized screen)

hello

you can use an addon like "Tempo". Tempo adds a "Log Time" button and you can make work description mandatory in its setting. 

also for some specific transitions in a workflow ypu can add a validator to check if the "work description" field is set.
