How to merge components of different projects in Two Dimensional Filter Statics

Rudi Wagner April 4, 2022

Hi

Ich have multiple projects with the same components (same name in each project).

On a dashboard I now want to use a Two Dimensional Filter Statistics to show issues grouped by project and component.

My problem now is that the Two Dimensional Filter doesn't recognise the components as beeing the same and creates multiple lines for the same component(one per project):

Is this correct behaviour? Any idea how I can merge them?

There is no way to do this, components are distinct across projects, you can't pretend that two of them are the same thing just because they have the same name.

I don't know if you're using the components for other functions, but if you are not, your best option might be to create a multi-select custom field for all the projects and list your components in it.  This would solve your reporting problem at least, because each option would be a single global object.

Well I understand the reasoning from a technical point of view but as the statistic only shows the name of the component it would still be nice to merge it.

Anyway thanks for your answer, sadly I'm using also the component-lead functionality quite extensive and have a lot of existing projects.

I found a solution which works for me though if anyone else is facing the same problem: using the "smart filters" of  Rich Filters for Jira Dashboards as JQL only searches by name (https://wiki.qotilabs.com/rich-filters/user-s-guide/configuring-rich-filters/configuring-smart-filters)
