How to migrate all users into new project roles?

Hi Team,

We're planning to migrate all our users from all projects to the new proposed roles. 

There can be one to one mapping or one to many mapping between old v/s new roles.

Since, there are large number of projects and large number of users. Please suggest the approaches that can be helpful for us.

What can be all methods to migrate the users from all projects to new roles?

@Nic Brough -Adaptavist-  any script to change the role will be really appreciated. We're also trying to do this through script.  Also, please suggest alternate options, if available. Thanks in advance.
