When I create a filter for configuring a dashboard (for example, a Pie Chart), I just select a few values of Label in my Filter. In the Dashboard configuration, I choose Labels as "Statistic Types". My intention is that the Pie Chart will show the number of tasks whose labels are specified in my Filter only, those labels are not specified in my Filter should not be shown in Dashboard. However, the result of the dashboard shows all Labels. Indeed there are multiple labels in some tasks, include the specified labels which defined in Filter and include some labels which are not specified in the Filter. How can I show the items only that specified labels by filter rule in my dashboard? Much appreciated for your answer
Hi @Chris Wang
For reporting I always recommend users to avoid labels. Instead, try using a single drop down customfield with the options you have highlighted and call it category. You may have to work with the sys admin to configure this for you.
This way you will ensure that people don't enter the wrong options and you won't get the issue with the pie chart gadget.
Cheers.
Thanks @Fabian Lim for your answer. It is a useful answer, but we have to define an internal rule for team not to create other new options (rather than the 5 options I specified) under this drop-down customfield, otherwise the same reporting result issue in the pie chart gadget when the new created option is applied as a part of multiple options are added into a task. Actually, we have been using a drop-down field (Components) as a workaround, only defined the specified options in Components field. I would like to expect if there is a direct approach to show the report items only that I selected situations/options in the Filter that configured in Dashboard settings.
