How to restrict entering already released fix versions in to fix version field

I need to restrict entering already released fix versions in to fix version field. Could you please let me know a possible way to do this

Is it maybe possible to present a warning to the users when they select a released version in the fixversion field?

Marking the releases as "Archived" will remove them from the list.

How can we archive the JIRA Issue. is that we should do from AUTOMATION in JIRA or is there any other way to do it. like automatically it will go archive after putting on some status.

He was talking about Archiving the release not the issue. You can do that from the same page where you normally manage releases. Be aware that if you archive it, the release is not available in the affectsVersion field either, so you probably don't want to archive any version that is currently live.
