How do I save a project view (list view, timeline view, etc) in the new issue navigator / project UI merge? I cant find how to save and recall a View?
I have tried saving and recalling a Filter but when i recall it my epics/tasks are all jumbled and it pulls me out of the project view so all the top tabs (List, Timeline, Cal, etc) disappear and im no longer in a regular project view.
EDIT:
Since the new Jira UI merge (Issue Navigator inside projects), there no longer seems to be a way to save a project view (List, Timeline, etc.) with a manual sort order so it persists when returning to the project. We tried saving filters, but opening them pulls us out into the global navigator (no project tabs) and doesn’t preserve our manual rank order unless we force ORDER BY Rank ASC. Jira also doesn’t remember the view by default across sessions or for other team members. The only reliable workaround so far is bookmarking the project-tab URL in the browser, but it feels unreasonable that we can’t just set and save a default project view directly in Jira for everyone visiting the project.
Hi @Josh Smith
To better understand, can you share screenshots of what you see and what you have tried?
Each project has boards. Those boards have several views: Timeline, list.
If you go to the list view, you have three options to filter. Filter, group and format rules (this is a Kanban board BTW).
Anything set here will stick if you reload or check any other project.
Is this what you are asking?

Thanks Aaron,
My Jira Cloud project no longer looks or functions as it did the last time I logged in. I believe there has been a Jira UI update recently which has resulting in the UI seen in the attached screenshot. I dont see any “Search List” field or “Filter” button any longer. And when I logged back in after the Jira update all my Epics were jumbled in an incorrect order. The only way to get my original manually created Epic/Task order back was to enter ‘ project = "LIS" ORDER BY Rank ASC ‘ into the new “JQL” field. I have never seen the Basic/JQL buttons before or had to use them to recall my list order.
Even with ‘ project = "LIS" ORDER BY Rank ASC ‘ in the “JQL”, when I move to another View (Timeline, Board, etc) and back to List View, the JQL field defaults back to ‘ project = "LIS" ORDER BY created DESC ‘ . I have tried saving this filter in order that it recalls automatically whenever I visit List view, however when the filter recalls (via the sidebar “Filters” menu) I see a jumbled list of Epics / Task with no Project view tabes across the top (no List, Timeline, etc).
I just want to be able to manually sort my List view (with all project Epics/Task displaying) and have that view reflected exactly in the Timeline and Board views.

Hi @Josh Smith
I now see that this is a team-managed project. Sadly, I can't see the JQL field on any of my instances (I have 3).
Could it be a third-party app?
I can't find any updates to Jira mentioning this. I'll keep looking, and maybe someone else has any insights.
Regards

I'm bemused and in a complete stalemate with being able to use Jira like this! The only app i have installed is 'Deep Clone for Jira' which shouldnt have has this effect on the main project UI?

This is what ChatGPT is saying:
Atlassian is rolling out a new unified issue navigator (the UI that im currently seeing), which replaces the older project-based list UI. The new view relies on filters (Basic/JQL) instead of just showing all Epics/Task in your manual sort order. Manual epic/task ordering doesn’t automatically persist unless you use ORDER BY Rank.
Thing is, I need to save this 'ORDER BY Rank' filter as the default for the Project but i cant seem to (as explained in my OP)
