How to search the Test issuetypes of a Test Set

Ignacio Amoros January 27, 2022

Hi all,

Speaking of automation, how can I get the Test issuetypes to done once the Test Set issuetype is done? I am just able to get this by creating a link but we do not want this solution. Let me explain, the Tests are created inside the Test Set isue. Please find example below. In this case, this Test Set has 4 Tests and I wont to close them automatically once the Test Set is done. I can do this by creating a link but it would be a lot of work for the developers to start doing this. Thank you!

Hi @Ignacio Amoros and welcome to Community!

I'm afraid it's not possible at the moment, you can upvote the related feature request and watch it to be updated: As an Admin, I can perform Xray association actions using Jira automation.

Hi @Ignacio Amoros

What hosting of Xray do you have, DC/Server or Cloud?

If it is Cloud, then @Manon Soubies-Camy's answer is correct since the link she provided is for a suggestion reported in the Xray Cloud backlog.

However, if you use Xray DC/Server, that is not valid since Xray Cloud, and Xray DC/Server are two different apps.

In Xray DC/Server, the TestRunStatus of the Test cases is a Jira custom field, so it is possible to use it as any other Jira custom field. For instance, create a JQL query to trigger an action using Jira Automation. In the JQL, you can check the status of the TestRunStatus. You also have several JQL functions provided by Xray DC/Server that could be useful: https://docs.getxray.app/display/XRAY/Enhanced+querying+with+JQL.

If you have any additional questions, please contact Xray Support (http://Xraysupport.getXray.app); we would gladly assist you.

Thank you.

Hi @Rogério Paiva - Xray Xporter

Thank you for your answer. To be honest, I was not sure but it looks I have the Xray DC/Server. I have been able to get the automation working but a specific case in which I know the Test Case key. I would need the general formula to be used in a project automation. I tried different ways but did not find the right way.

Please have a look to the document attached for a better explanation of what I am trying to say.  Thank you so much!!Test set example.png

Hi @Ignacio Amoros

Smart values might work since you cannot use the actual key. Please check: https://confluence.atlassian.com/automation/smart-value-basics-993924628.html.

Thank you.
