In the old view, when I turned off the Epics panel I could see the Epics in the stacked list. Now in the new view I can't seem to figure out how to make that work.
What am I missing?

Just to clarify … I know how to flip the Epics panel on/off. What I'm trying to do is show the Epics directly in the Scrum backlog list alongside other issue types.
You used to be able to do it from the Board settings > Columns page via a radio button. One of my older projects still has it enabled.
Atlassian must have removed it for newer projects. Which is infuriating as I now have users asking why they can't have the Epics in a list view like the older projects. These are both company managed projects too.
Hi @Jason Rogers , that is interesting. I have never seen that Epic radio button and don't see in any of my current projects. Is this Cloud?

Hey @Jack BrickeyYeah we are on cloud. It seems to only be available on the older projects/boards. Any new ones being set up do not have them. But this was how I managed to get the Epics to appear in a list in the backlog.

Yeah, that's what I find interesting. I've been using Jira for many years and I've had this one instance stood up for probably four years and I don't ever recall seeing it. I'm sure I just missed it but for sure, none of my old projects have it. Now my instance is a free instance, so it might be related to that. I will check some of my other Standard and Premium accounts later today. Though, I guess it doesn't boy matter if it's going away.

Thanks for confirming that I'm not crazy. I used to use this on specific, mostly strategic projects. When I needed it again at a new org last year it was gone 🫠
Another great "usability" enhancement from Atlassian's wayward product team.

Hey, @David Holman. You should be able to switch on/off the Epic panel at the bottom of the filter list in the Epic dropdown filter in your Backlog view.

I found a discussion in 12 Jul 2018, https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Viewing-epics-in-the-backlog/qaq-p/842878
only way of showing epics (at the moment) is via the epics panel. Just checked on of our Scrum boards. They will always be shown in the epics panel.
I've the same query here to determine if jira epic can be seen in Backlog view, so that by assign them to a sprint, it can be shown up in Timeline view, with the same behavior as issue type =story and task.

Hi @David Holman , i'm not quite sure what view you're asking about. I don't recall being able to turn off epic panel previously. I may have just missed that or maybe it was a TMP behavior? You can turn on/off the epic panel by clicking on the epic drop-down, and at the bottom enable that feature.

You've been able to deactivate the Epics panel in a Scrum project backlog for a long time. The difference is that previously the Epics themselves would then show up in the backlog. It can be confusing in some instances, but I'm working on a project where it would be helpful.

Yes understand the ability to disable/enable epics panel. Thanks for clarifying.
