How to set Status in Backlog view w/selected issue in Jira Server (like Cloud)?

I noticed yesterday that Jira Cloud has a drop-down for setting the Status of a selected item in the Backlog view.  Our version of Jira Server (v7.5.3) does not have this feature, it only shows the current status and a link to view the Workflow.  The Cloud version of Jira has a drop-down picker here that lets you select a Status similar to the Workflow drop down at the top of the full-page Issue detail view.  The latest documentation for 7.9 still shows basically the functionality I currently have.

If this feature is in a later release of Jira Server, I'd like to know which version it was released in.  If it's something we can enable as an experimental feature, I'd like to know that.  If it's on the roadmap for Jira Server to get this feature, what is it called so I can watch for it?

It's part of a new view being trialled on Cloud.  It's not going to be considered for server for a while.

Sorry it's not what you wanted to hear.  I quite like the new layouts of issues that include the drop-down for transitions (they're still transitions, just dressed up to take you to the target status), but they're not polished enough to want to put them on server yet.
