Hello,Community.
Currently I am working in a team with Jira.
On the issues, we have categories that we want person in charge to fill in and it is in a explanation field.
And these categories are all same for every issues.
So the question is how to set a default text in a explanation filed?
I could do it in another project from Project Settings > Issue Type > Task > Explanation field -default text
But I cannot find this on this project.
Does anyone can tell me how to do it or why I can not find in this project?
Thank you
Hello @光野 かおる
What type of project are you using? Get that information from the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.
The example you provided would work only for a Team Managed project.
If you are using a Company Managed project you would set a default value in the Context configuration for the field.
Refer to
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-custom-field-context/
Thank you for answering to my question.
I checked the reference you gave me and understood how it works.
But, I can't find the field that i want to set a default value in the Custom Field.
The field that I want to change is "explanation".
The picture down below and yellow highlight part is where I stopped at.
Do you know if there is a limitation for field to put in these default values?
Anyway thank you !

Hello @光野 かおる
Can you answer the first question I asked about your project type in my previous response?
Can you provide a screen image from the Custom Fields screen showing your attempt to find the custom field?
Can you also provide a screen image that shows the field in use in an issue?

Thank you for sharing those screen images.
Can you paste the field name here, or run it through a translation application to get the English translation for it?
I would like to clarify a point. Are you trying to set the value in the field, or are you trying to set help text to explain how the field should be used?
If this is a pre-built system field it may not be available in the Custom Fields screen. In that case you may not be able to set a default value in the field.
If you are trying to set the help text that displays below the field, you may be able to do that through the Field Configuration by editing the fields description. Refer to
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/change-a-field-configuration/

Thank you for helping.
説明 can be translated to Description or Explanation.
Q. I would like to clarify a point. Are you trying to set the value in the field, or are you trying to set help text to explain how the field should be used?
-> Yes i wanted to set the value in the field.
I want this value (picture down below )to be applied for all tasks.
So that we don't need to write this every time when we create issues.
Thank you

Thank you for that additional information.
In a Company Managed project it is not possible to set a default value directly for the native field named Description.
There is a work around that involves creating a custom field, setting a default value for it, then copying the final value from the custom field to the native Description field. There are other posts in this community that have the details of that work around.
I will find those posts and add the links here in the next few days.
You might also find a third party app in the Atlassian Marketplace that would help meet your requirement.
