How to share one board in project with external development partner

Andrew Dunne November 19, 2020

Hello!

I currently have a Jira Cloud Classic Project set up for the development work occurring on our main product. We have several squads organised around product set OKRs. This has been configured as follows:

  • Each squad is configured as a component
  • Each squad has an individual board and backlog, with sprints run in parallel

One such squad is an external partner. What is the optimal way to provide them access to Jira, so that:

  • They can create issues, with subtasks etc
  • They can only see issues, boards etc tied to a specific component within the project
  • They cannot see any of the issues, boards, sprints etc that do not pertain to them

Thanks in advance,

Andrew

So the trickiest part here is the Component restriction requirement. I will refer you to another thread here as it does a good job of explaining things. Basically you need to employee issue security.

Edit: Never mind, the thread link wasn't displaying in my browser. Thanks!

Hi Jack, thanks for your response. Would love to see the thread you're referring to when you get a chance.
