How to show sprints on multiple timelines

Catriona Wright April 5, 2024

I'm not using Advanced Roadmaps, just a normal Jira software project.

I have 2 boards that I now want to combine into one. I've managed to get everything into the new board with a filter except the sprints don't show on the timeline view. They are in the backlog and active sprints view fine but because I didn't create the sprints from this board, the sprint row at the top of the timeline is empty. Is it possible to fix this?

Hi @Catriona Wright

Yes, the free roadmap option Jira offers, Timeline, doesn't allow you to allow for more than 1 Sprint (or drill down to Subtask level and a couple other limitations).

Advanced Roadmaps offers this, but then you'd have to upgrade your Jira plan.

Full disclosure, I work at Visor, and we have a free option to work around this. Our Gantt view allows you to pull in more than one Jira Project / Board using JQL. Visor is free to use (up to 250 records) and we have bi-directional syncing with Jira. So, you can pretty much visualize your live Jira data that way:

I hope that helps!

Hello @Catriona Wright

No it is not possible to fix that. That is one of the limitations of the basic Timeline feature. The Timeline will show only the sprints created in the board on which the Timeline is based.
