Currently, our company works with the Jira Software (Cloud) license (Standard Plan). I know that the Jira Work Management license is included in Jira Software, which we have been utilizing until recently.
However, we only use the Jira Work Management (JWM) features now.
Can I seamlessly transition to a JWM-only license? If so, what steps do I need to take?
Do we cancel our subscription? If so, do we lose our current Work Management projects? I am a little confused and lost on what to do next.
I would love to hear how anyone with a similar experience moved forward.
Hello @Ahmet Fatih Ayyıldız
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
First let me say that I have not actually gone through this process myself. Attempt my suggestions at your own risk. Now warranty is offered, nor liability accepted.
If you do nothing other than cancel your current subscription, you will lose all your data.
You could open a support case with Atlassian directly, selecting Billing, pricing, and licensing option to ask Atlassian about options to change from a Jira Software product subscription to a Jira Work Management only product subscription.
Looking at the admin hub it appears that the Jira Work Management product can be added to a site that already has the Jira Software product. I think that would enable you to keep using any projects that were created with Jira Work Management project templates while canceling your subscription to the Jira Software product on the same site.
I would strongly suggest you try that with a Trial site and test data first before trying it with your production site.
Do you have any Atlassian Cloud products on the site besides the Jira Software product?
If not, you could create a new Organization/Site for just the Jira Work Management product, and execute a Cloud-to-Cloud migration of your data to the new site.
https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/move-data-between-jira-cloud-sites/
After confirming full migration of your data, then you could then consider cancelling the subscription to the Jira SW product and shutdown the original site.
You should make sure that you truly are using only JWM features. For instance, if you have manually created any boards, separate from the board that are created automatically in JWM project, then you have used a JSW feature. There could also potentially be dashboard gadgets you are using that are available only in the JSW product. And check your third party applications to confirm whether or not they are supported for use with JWM.
Thank you for such a detailed response. I must admit, I forgot about the third party applications, will control them as well.
I aim to to use the same Organization/Site as we currently use. Hopefully, trials will help a lot.
Thanks again!
