How to use the Resolution Field properly?
Hi. I just took over as Project Manager for an agile project using the Software Simplified Workflow. Before I took over, the client added the Resolution field to the Issue Creation Form. Now, when creating a new issue, it’s require to set the Resolution field to a value, but that makes no sense, since there is no resolution when the issue is first created. How do we change the field configuration so that it’s not required to have a value?
Also, the Resolution field does not appear in the New Jira Issue View. How do I get it to appear?
Hi Seema,
You will need to remove the Resolution field from the Create screen.
But you will probably need to be a Jira Administrator to be able to do that.
Hi @John Funk
As you can see, I have removed(unchecked) the resolution field while creating a new story/issue.
Once i complete creating a new story by clicking the "create" button, Automatically resolution field pops us as an error as shown below.
Even though i tried removing the Resolution field from the Create screen, why does the resolution field still pop up? Any suggestions?

Check the Field Configurations file for that project. It probably has the Resolution field as required. Change it to optional and you should be good.

Hi @John Funk
I tried the hide option from the "filed configuration" page, It worked.
Now i don't see resolution field pop up as an error while creating a new story/issue.
Thanks for your support.

Yes, sorry - meant to tell you to do the Hide on that field since it is a System field.
Glad it is working for you. :-)
Can you click on the Accept Answer button above to close this one out?
Thanks!
