I am trying to change a linked status in a workflow, but the status I want to use is not available.

Shari Webster May 31, 2023

I am trying to change a linked status in a workflow, but the status I want to use is not available.  I want Will Not Implement and Done to resolve to Resolved, but Resolved is not in the drop down.  It was in the drop down for Identified, so obviously there is a filter somewhere for these.  How can I change the options on the drop down?  I copied the existing workflow and renamed it, so the workflow I am trying to alter is inactive.

Hi Shari - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Can you share some screenshots? Are you wanting to change the status or the Resolution types?

No I am wanting to change the linked status.  I go to the workflow to edit the step. statuses.jpg

Then I click on Edit update.jpg

I want to change Will Not Implement to Resolved, but it doesn't appear in the dropdown.

Resolved DOES appear in the dropdown for other steps.  I need to know how to make it appear for Will Not Implement and Done.

Oh, I think I understand now. I would go to the Diagram view instead of the text view. There you can add a new status if you like and change the transition to go to this new status instead of the one it goes to now.

I did try that.  This is the step I am trying to change, the Will Not Implement.

steps.jpgThe one below it, Identified, also needed to be changed.  It had a linked status of Identified.  I was able to go through the steps in my first post and change it to Resolved.  Resolved doesn't appear in the list of choices for Will Not Implement.  Here is a snap of the diagram.

Here are the steps and diagram from the active version.

You can see where I was able to change the Linked Status of Identified to Resolved.

You can't have multiple statuses in a workflow with the same name. So you can't have two Resolved statuses in the workflow.

I don't know if you really want multiple statuses or if you just want a status of Done with the Resolution field to be set for things like Done, Resolved, Will Not Do, et. That's a different process.

Yes, It is the Resolution field that I need to change for these statuses.  How do I go about that?

You will need to edit the Post Function going to the Done status to set the value there. If you need to add a Resolution that does not exist, go to Settings > Issues > Resolutions
