I am wanting to tag a task when it fails in testing?

I am wanting to somehow tag a task that shows when it has failed in testing. I know there is the flag option, but we already have that in use. Are there any good solutions to choose that will either have an icon, card color change, or something that clearly indicates it was failed and to show that on the card on the Kansan board?

I will note that I am not on Cloud.

Hello @Jason Chayer

How do your users current note in an issue that testing has failed? And then, if it is retested and passes, how do they note that in the issue?

Is "testing" a Status option for your issues? Could "Testing Failed" be another Status option?

You could add a custom field (perhaps a checkbox) that is clear by default and then set when testing is failed. You could add the custom field to the card display, or set the card color based on a JQL that references that field.

@Trudy Claspill - When you reference card color, can the entire card be changed, or just the outline? I do like that approach.

Currently, when a task is failed, it goes back to In Development. I could add a status as "testing failed" and give that its own column even.

I do like the thought of the card color change if it can be the whole card, similar to that of when a card is flagged (I believe it is yellow.)

@Jason Chayer

When I reference card color, I'm referring to the Card Color option that is available in the Board Configuration. That sets just the color for outline or left border of the card. There doesn't appear to be a native method to change the color of the entire card, though there is a change request about it:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-65638

There might be a third party plugin that would do that for you. However if you are using Jira Server (vs. Jira Data Center) support is ending in February and I'm not sure that you can actually get plugins for Server anymore. You would need to search the Atlassian Marketplace to see if there is a compatible plugin available.

Thanks @Trudy Claspill . We are moving to cloud because of the loss of support. The outline may suffice for now.
