Hi colleagues,
Some of my colleagues need access to the project's Jira, but I cannot find their MB users when I try to add them in the project and give them a role.
They also do not know how to manage their access to this new DOT Jira.
What can be done in this case?
In this case, it seems like there might be a few steps to take in order to grant your colleagues access to the project's Jira and help them manage their access effectively:
1. Check User Management in Jira:
Ensure that your colleagues are registered users in your Jira instance. Sometimes, issues like this arise if the users' accounts haven't been created or synced properly.
2. User Directory Configuration:
Verify that the user directory (e.g., LDAP, Active Directory) connected to your Jira instance is up-to-date and synchronized. This ensures that user information is accurate and accessible within Jira.
3. Roles and Permissions:
Double-check the roles and permissions within your project in Jira. Make sure the roles you are trying to assign your colleagues exist and are associated with the necessary project permissions. If not, you may need to create the roles or adjust permissions.
4. Project-specific Permissions:
Ensure that the project you're trying to add your colleagues to has the correct permissions scheme applied. This scheme defines who can do what within the project. Make sure the roles you're assigning them have the appropriate permissions.
5. User Invitation:
If your colleagues are registered users but aren't showing up when you try to add them, it's possible they might need to accept an invitation to join the project. Jira should send them an email notification when they're added, allowing them to accept and access the project.
6. Jira Training or Support:
If your colleagues are unfamiliar with how to manage their access to the new Jira instance, it might be beneficial to provide them with some basic Jira training. Alternatively, your organization's IT or Jira support team could assist them in managing their access and understanding the platform's features.
7. Contact Jira Administrator:
If you're unable to resolve the issue on your own, consider reaching out to your Jira administrator or IT support team. They can help troubleshoot and address any technical issues that might be hindering the process.
8. Documentation and Resources:
Share any available documentation or resources with your colleagues that explain how to manage access, roles, and permissions within your Jira instance. This can empower them to handle access-related tasks independently.
Remember that Jira configurations can vary based on your specific setup and permissions structure, so the steps above might need to be tailored to your situation. It's important to ensure that your colleagues' accounts are properly set up and that they understand how to manage their access within the Jira instance.
@alfonso.de_la_mata_hernando welcome to the community!
The users you want to add to your project needs to be added to Atlassian access first and then they should be given Jira User access and only then you would be able to assign them in a role in Jira. Your organization admin would be the best person to do this.

Hi Sayed,
Thanks for your fast answer, I tried to follow the steps, but when I am inside the Atlassian Admin I am not able to search for users to invite.
I guess this is due to me not being a MB Atlassian admin, could you point me someone that is an Atlassian Admin in Mercedes.Benz that could help me?
Thanks in advance

@alfonso.de_la_mata_hernando I am afraid to say I can't help with that, I don't know who is Mercedes Benz Atlassian org admin. You can reach out to your IT team and they should be able to fix this for your or at least find the responsible person :)
