I changed the RANK field in my project/board filter and now get an error

gagneet June 16, 2019

I changed the RANK field in my project filter, as someone else had a similar named field in another project and that was conflicting with the one I had in my project. Now I get the following error whenever I try to go to the Board:

"illegal entity scope for entity class (custom_field). expected entity scope 'global' but has scope 'project'"

Is there a way to correct this?

Hi @gagneet ,

Rank custom field is exclusively used by JIRA Software for ranking tickets. No one should be changing/modifying them. You should revert back to the old state and request the other stakeholder to change that custom field.

Please go through the Notes section in  enabling-ranking Atlassian documentation

Thanks Ravi. The issue is that I changed the filter to remove the rank, and now I am getting the above error whenever I try and browse to the board. I am unable to go to the "Board Settings" menu again to change the filter or do anything.

Is there some other way in the Cloud JIRA to rectify this issue?

Hi @gagneet ,

  • Go to Search.
  • You will see Filters at the bottom. Click on it.
  • JIRA will show the filters.
  • You need to identify the filter that is used in the JIRA board.
  • If you are the owner of the filter, you can modify the filter JQL. Rank custom field has large significance in JIRA Software. Please be careful with that
  • Click Save
