I created a filter and have two custom fields on two different boards that show "Service Type". On the filter page itself, that custom field shows just fine. However, when I export it to Excel, my custom field disappears for one of the boards. Why is it not pulling the same data that is visible on the filter page?
What method are you using to Export the data to CSV?
Is it the "Export to CSV with current filter" Or the "Open in Excel". Would recommend the latter option it goves more fields and has an dynamic filter that lets you fetch issues in excel directly.

open in Microsoft Excel. Also, I tried to delete this post as I didn't mean to choose Jira Service Management, It is in Jira Work Management. I found a workaround by saving to an html file and then going to Excel, but I still don't understand why I can't just directly export to Excel when the data is on the filter page just not in the export. So weird.

In my experience the Jira Cloud for Excel doesn't preserve the Column setting, this has been a known issue for quite some time.
Will attach a bug for this of I come across it.
Although since you were able to find an answer perhaps you can either mark this thread as the Accepted answer or type in a new one with the soln, this will help the community identity this question as Answered

So I should put it in a new post, answer it myself and then call it answered? Would that be clearest? I want to help the community, but is there any other place that this information might be also be placed?
That is kind of a big bug if reports are not pulling correctly entered data. I am pretty new to the community, where can I submit a question about that to Jira? Thank you for your help. I have only used the community a few times and the help has always been spot on :).

Okay community...save as html and that seems to bring over all the column, then convert to Excel.

Tagged the Atlassian team here too so they can view the conversation too.

Hi,
I believe I came across a bug that feels very similar to what you are reporting here. Please see JRACLOUD-62216. In that bug ticket the field is still being exported, but the column title does not appear as the name of the field itself, but rather "Custom_field <name>"
It appears that you have found the workaround of using export HTML as a means to show this information in another way.
