I need administrator access to set up a CSV import

Todd B_ Cutick March 29, 2022

I set up a Jira account and project but need administrator access to do a CSV import.  I should be the administrator since I created the Jira instance, The system asks me to contact the administrator to give me privileges, but there is no other assigned administrator (I did invite three other people to the project). What went wrong and how do I fix this?

Org Admin is different than full admin. The full admin can grant access to specific functions within JIRA.

Also, if the JIRA Admin grants this access, it is possible the normal user in JIRA doing imports will only be able to do about 250 rows at a time; and in some cases not all fields may be able to be imported and can only be done by a jira admin.

I updated all of the groups and I still can't access the CSV Import tool in Settings.

Stumped!

Just to be safe, did you log out and log back into your Atlassian account?

If you created the instance, you are probably a site admin.  If so, you control the access of users and groups.

Jira admin permissions is group-based.  It's indicated by what group(s) are listed in the Administer Jira permissions for your site.

So, to make sure you're a Jira admin, go to https://admin.atlassian.com .  This should verify if you're a site admin.  Once you're a site admin. make sure you're a member of the "Jira-administrators" (or similarly named group).

If that group has Administer Jira permissions, you should see a sprocket on the top right corner of your web brower.

Hope this helps.

Are you able to look at groups?  Or is the user/group directory maintained by Atlassian Access?

If not by Access, you should be able to see/modify group information using the following URL: https://support.atlassian.com/user-management/docs/create-and-update-groups/

Still do not have admin permissions even though I set everything up. Cannot get access to the CSV import wizard as a result.

One more thing...I'm not subscribed to Atlassian Access.
