I want to invite a client to particular project without exposing other projects

I am using JIRA software and I want to invite a client (user/group) to a particular project without allowing him to view or see the other projects whatsoever.

Hello @Yasser Alattas

Welcome to the community.

You said you use JIRA Software, so is this a Software project then?

Is it a Company Managed project or a Team Managed project?

Do you use both Company Managed and Team Managed projects in your JIRA instance?

In this post my responses talk about how to set up access for an external vendor to have access to only specified Company Projects. However, if you also have Team Managed projects, or if you are trying to grant access to a Team Managed project, there are other steps involved.

It is a team managed project and we are not utilizing company-managed by we will in future.

For Team Managed projects if you want to prevent the user from accessing any other Team Managed projects you need to ensure that Access for those other projects is not set to Open. That would grant the user access to those projects even if they are not specifically added to the project, as per the documentation

The other projects would have to be set to Private, and then the user's needing access to them would have to be specifically added to them. If the other projects are set to Limited, the user would be able to see their content, and if set to Open the user would be able to modify their content.

If, in the future you add Company Managed projects, then the other post I linked in my previous response becomes relevant as you will need to block the user's access to those projects.

Hi Yasser - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Is this a Jira Service Manager project? Or a Company-managed project?

Yasser Alattas June 8, 2021

For Team-managed, you can go to Project Settings >  Access and add the user with the access you would like to grant them.

But you will need to check the Permission Schemes used by the other projects to make sure they are using permissions attached to project roles that do not include the client user/group.
