I want to set up an automation or trigger, but I am not seeing the option?

I am wanting to set up an automation or trigger that when a sub-task type is created, a custom field is auto populated from that of the Parent Task. We have Jira server, so maybe that is why I am not seeing "Automation". I am an admin, but it is not on a project or global level. 
Is there a trigger with part of the workflow scheme that can accomplish this same thing?

Hi @Jason Chayer 

Automation for Jira is built-in feature for datacenter and cloud version only. If you have any other add-ons, please check their functions in workflow post-functions to automate things.
