Hi,

I understand that you are looking to upgrade Jira to a version 8.x, and have concerns about how this might impact your Bitbucket server 5.2.0.  This can be a difficult question to answer, because we don't really know how you might have integrated these two products, nor do we know what version Jira is currently using.

Complicating matters, Bitbucket 5.2.0 has already reached End of Life for support.  So if you were to run into problems on the Bitbucket side here, Atlassian does not support these old versions any longer.  It might be required that you update Bitbucket to a supported version in order to get support for this integration.

There are two different ways you could have integrated these products:

  1. Using the DVCS connector
  2. OR via an application link

If you have setup an application link or applink, then I'd recommend checking out Application links version matrix.  There are known limitations with trying to integrate drastically different applinks versions with one other that we have documented there.

I don't know of any outright compatibility problems when using the DVCS connector here, but again, since that version of Bitbucket is end of life for support Atlassian is not testing compatibility between these older versions and current ones.

I'd suggest that before you do this upgrade to you production Jira site, it might help to test out this upgrade on a staging environment to see if you find any problems with such integrations.

I hope this helps.

Andy
