Import Issues with CSV file - "Epic name" doesn't appear in drop-down list

Svenja Diester January 27, 2023

I want to import a bunch of issues I previously downloaded from Jira (to duplicate them).

When matching “CSV Field” with the “JIRA field” I can’t choose “Epic Name” in the drop-down list (screenshot 1).

But it is not possible to correctly upload the issues without previously attach them to the Epic names (Screenshot 2).

My questions:
Why can’t I see “Epic Name” in the drop-down list?
How can I either upload the issues without it, or how can I get the “Epic name” to show in the drop-down list?

Thanks for your help

Hello @Svenja Diester

Welcome to the Atlassian community!

Can you confirm the type of the destination project? Is it Team Managed or Company Managed?

Do you have access to create Epics directly in that project through the Create Issue screen?

How are you accessing the import function? Are you accessing it from the Advanced Issue Search screen or from the Settings > System > External Issue Import screen?

Hello

Thanks for the answer.

It is a Company Managed project

Yes, I do have access to create an Epic directly through the Create Issue screen

I’m accessing it from the Create Issue screen (Screenshot 1 & 2)image.pngimage.png

In the Create Issue screen when you try to create an Epic for the same destination product do you see the Epic Name field in that dialog?

Your post is marked to indicate you are a Site Administrator. Can you try accessing the import function by clicking on the Gear icon near your avatar, then selecting System, then External System Import, then CSV, and see if the Epic Name field is presented when you use that path?

Ha! With this comment I were able to figure it out.
I had to activate the Epic Name in the project screen, now it is showing.

Thanks !

I can select Epic Name in Map fields, ticket is created, but link is missing. It does not work, no warning or error in log. Any idea?
