Right now, I can see that there is an "effort" field per idea which is great. It's a high-level estimate which would be enough for high level planning.
However, most of my "ideas" are implemented by multiple teams. Think about front-end, backend etc and each of these teams have their own jira software projects.
It would be great to know that an idea might be Large for team A, Small for team B and Medium for team C.
How can I implement this without over complicating everything?
Hi @Gareth Gauci and welcome to the Community!
The efforts per team are very much part of the implementation process, which is - as you describe - perfectly managed by each team autonomously. And so they are managed in JSW on the implementation issues rather than in JPD.
Even when the effort required is different across different implementation teams, that still results in an overall effort for the idea as a whole. And that's what you see in JPD.
So, in summary, no - this is not an available feature in JPD. But since you can link all the implementation work for the different teams in Jira Software, you should still be able to find a way that works combining both products.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for the welcome and (quick) response! Overally I love the idea of Discovery Projects so kudos to Jira for the work.
I have several ideas in my discovery project which may be very small for one team (ex. add a button on the UI) and very large for other teams (implement complex logic for the button press). I want to show this information, especially when doing roadmaps grouped by team.
For planning ideas, it means that the UI team can probably handle other things in parallel while the backend team needs to focus on that one only.
Thanks for your feedback!
