Is it possible to limit the fields that a watcher can see on an issue?

Deepa Narasimhan March 6, 2020

When we add watchers to a Jira issue, is it possible to restrict the fields on the issue that they can view or have access to?

Thanks!

Hi @Deepa Narasimhan

You can't set issue views per user or user type at this point - you can only have different views per issue type and issue operation.

This means if a user is a watcher on an issue, they can see all the fields.

As an alternative, if your concern is issue editing or similar, you could restrict who can edit, move, etc an issue using Permissions - but permissions cannot be set based on Watchers.

For more information on permissions, see this page.

Deepa,

In the view screen, have the fields that you specifically want users to see. Create screen can have all the fields.

Thanks, Victor!

Can we have multiple view screens for the same issue depending on the user profile?

Thanks,

Deepa
