Is it possible to migrate/clone/export a site configuration ?

Raph NOno June 17, 2020

Hello everyone ! At the moment I have made myself an account on JIra Cloud with my personal e-mail, and use the free solution to demonstrate its incredible efficiency to my hierarchy. My question really is : "If in the futur if need to go standard with my professional e-mail would I be able to import all my settings, project, issues etc ... Or just issues, users et users group settings as I think I saw in a documentation ?"

Thanks in adavances for your answers,

Hi @Raph NOno

If you currently haven’t started using Jira Cloud then upon setup, you can migrate your current Jira to the new Jira to form the base and then build on from there.

Also, you may be able to use the migration assistance provided by Atlassian if you already have some data(however I haven’t really done much work with this functionality).

Regards.

Hi, thanks for your answer, my main concern is my settings, I have done a lot of work on the workflows for exemple, it would be painful to restart from scratch ...

@Raph NOno if you are migrating all contents to an empty JIRA instance, then all settings you had would carry over.

If you are migrating to an JIRA instance that is not empty then, you can migrate your workflow using the export feature from the workflow page:

  • Go to your workflow
  • Click the View link
  • Select export option.
  • Export to XML (please use xml because using export to workflow could drop custom post functions, conditions and validators).

As for other settings, there are no easy ways of migrating these.

Regards.
