My users would like to see the Original/Remaining estimate on the issue detail view even when the fields are currently empty.
We've added the Time Tracking field to the relevant screens. However there is no option to set the field to "show when empty" like there is for other fields. The field configuration only has options to hide or show the field, which is not what I am looking for.
Is it possible to show Original/Remaining Estimate in the issue view when field is emtpy?
Kind regards,
Els
Hey, @Els Bassant! 👋
Just a note — Original Estimate and Time Tracking are two separate fields, so you’ll need to add both to your screen, but I think you're aware of it. Jira should show them even if they are empty. And in my experience, even when I add them under “Hide when empty" section, they still show up on the issue card even when they are empty, so the behaviour you see on your instance is pretty weird.
If you could not resolve the issue, you might want to try JetTime, a time tracking app we’ve built. It gives a cleaner view of these fields, always shows them clearly, and lets you toggle between time for the current issue or including child issues.
I’m one of the developers behind JetTime — it’s free for up to 10 users, so feel free to check it out and see if it helps your use case!
Hi Anton,
Thank you for your recommentdation. Unfortunately we use Jira DataCenter, so the above mentioned solution does not is not applicable.
I took a quick look at the plugin as well, but it seems to be Cloud only.
Kind regards,
Els

Hey @Els Bassant
Could you please navigate to the Issue Layout section in the project and check if the Time Tracking/Original Estimate fields are in the "hide when empty" section?
If yes, please drag it and drop it in the section above:

@Mayura ,
I figured a similar solution for Cloud, however it appears that Els is using Data Center. What would your recommendation be there?
