Is there a difference in using a project vs an issue in Jira?

When it comes to tracking projects that we are working on in Jira, we have been breaking down bigger issues into smaller issues to complete the project to show our work. But we need a little direction when it comes to the project itself. We use Epics to list all of the stories for the project, but we need some direction on this please.

Hi Samuel,

I believe you are already on the right path :)

You mentioned issues and epics, as well as stories. Therefore I assume you are already using Software Boards (maybe a Kanban board or a Scrum board) and now you want to go in-depth with the options provided to you.

Atlassian offers some great readings about all those topics called 'Agile Coach'. Please have a look at this link.
It offers an easy to understand starter guide about all the topics.

Apart from that there is of course also documentation from Atlassian available.

You will likely notice that some questions around 'how' to use Agile methodologies will sum up to the questions on how to use Jira itself. Those are, from my experience, best to be discussed with an experienced Agile Coach within the company - Scrum Masters and similar roles are often good partners to talk to.

In case of any further and more detailed questions Community is most likely also able to help.

Cheers,
Daniel
