sure...

  1. create a filter search, e.g. "project = myproject"
  2. once you have your filter producing the exact issues you want to add the label to..
  3. use Bulk edit, edit issue
  4. add label and submit

OK Jack, so I want to add Labels to a large number of issues so that I have a way to filter them.

Your answer is to filter them, and then I can add a label to filter them?

That sounds great...but if I could filter them without these labels...I wouldn't need to add the labels ;-)

I cannot find any Bulk-edit when selecting multiple issues. Is this answer obsolete?

Hi @Jonas Stenberg ,

@Jack Brickey's answer is still valid, however the Bulk change option is a bit hidden. When you have a filter open, it's in the three dots menu on the top right like this:

Hope that helps,

That is not how it looks like for me. Am I lacking some credentials or are we using a different version of Jira?

It is all in Swedish for me but I guess you can figure out what it means anyway. The only option I have is "Handle custom filters"

@Jonas Stenberg ,

that image seems to be from a board maybe? You need to be on the Advanced issue search.

  1. Click into the search bar
  2. select Advanced issue search
  3. construct your JQL to retrieve the issue you wish to edit
  4.  Click on ellipses and choose Bulk change

That is correct. I was in the backlog-view. Now I found the feature to bulk-edit in the advanced search. Thank you.

This answer is still valid and saves tons of time when doing bulk update
