Is there a way to automatically send an SMS to custom contacts with the creation of a issue in JIRA?

Hello all,

I'm fairly new to JIRA and don't really know it's full applications.

I would like to know if there is a way to automatically send an SMS notification to a list of multiple contacts (the list would be different for every issue, so not a fixed list) whenever an issue is created and, ideally, when the issue is closed (workflow switched to DONE) similar to email notifications, with no need to send SMS for every single update.

The ideal way would be to be sent automatically with the creation, only needing a manual input of the contacts, as they are switched every time.

Hi Valentin,

 

This is not possible out-of-the-box with Jira, but there are multiple plugins available that can help you with that. 

For example, check out this Addon: Notifications for Jira

Do addons like that work without a JIRA Core licence?

I see that one is mentioned when going into the buy screen and while the 100$ can be affordable for the 50 user tear for the addon, 2500 for both licence and addon can be a bit steep.

You can start with both with a free 30-day trial, but afterwards you will indeed need both licenses.
