Is there a way to create a rule/conditions for status transitioning based on custom fields?

Hey everyone!

So, in the project I’m currently working on we have created some custom fields in the Jira cards and we’d like to restrict the card to be moved to Done if that specific field is not filled.

I know I can make that field required when creating the cards (and we’ve done that), however, that doesn’t mean the field couldn’t be accidentally ‘unfilled’ at some point, right?

Hi Lucas, 

you can go to edit workflow and select the transition where you want to put the condition, then “Restrict to when field is a specific value” then select the field, in “Check if it” field select “Doesn’t equal”, then in “This value” make it Blank. Then as per the condition if the field doesn’t equal to Blank i.e. the field contains some value then you will be able to do the transition.

You should be able to add a Validator to the Transition to Done in the Workflow for Field Required.
