Is there a way to group issues in an EPIC?

I used to work with Rally software. We could group user stories in an EPIC within an EPIC. Is there any way to group user stories in a JIRA EPIC? For now, I tagged the user stories using the Component field and set up a filter to id those user stories then shared it with our Product Owner to review and clean up.

Is there color coding or anything available to keep user stories in an EPIC further subgrouped?

You use the "Epic Link" field to do this with Jira Stories.  This assumes you have created one or more Epics.  It's also only a function of Jira Software, you won't see it if you have just have Core or Sevice Desk

Thank you. I was looking to keep work items (user stories) within an EPIC grouped not necessarily to have them show up as separate EPICs on the backlog. I figured I could use components field to group and then created a filter.
