We are tracking tasks in a project and each task has a Customer Name. We'd like it so that users can only see tasks for certain customers. We have looked into whether Component could be used to hold the Customer name and then whether permissions could be granted to Components, e.g. Joe handles ABC Corp and XYZ Corp, and Sally handles DEF Corp, and Joe can't see DEF Corp. issues, etc. Is there any way to do this? Thanks
Yes, with Issue Security. See https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver071/configuring-issue-level-security-802592414.html
Thanks Nick. I went down that road but got befuddled at some point ... so then in my scenario, would Security Levels look like "ABC Corp", "XYZ Corp." , etc, and then somewhere in the administrative interface I can associate a user to a set of companies they are allowed to see?

Maybe it can be done with the Behaviours of the Adaptavist Scriptrunner Plugin
