Is there a way to set the component by default on a specific project?

Our Jira instance has more than one component. And for some projects, it's a certainty that a specific component needs to be chosen every single time. Is it possible with automation or perhaps something else, to have that component field pre-filled with that default component when an issue is created?

Thank you!

Hi @Marije Pierson ,

Since components are project specific, do you want to set the component to a single value every time an issue is created in that specific project ?

If yes, that can be done with help of Automation rules. You can create a "Issue Created" trigger and a "Edit issue fields" action.

Thanks,

I think I tried that one the other day but then realised it wouldn't work as the field is required. Perhaps removing the compulsory option and then adding automation is the best way around it at the moment.

Thank you!

Hi @Marije Pierson ,

in order to have a pre-filled component during creation you could put in place a behaviour provided by https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1228522/behaviours-scriptrunner-for-jira-cloud?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

Hope this helps,

Fabio
