Is there a way to show issues above the Epic layer in the Project Timeline?

I'm using the project timeline in a Kanban board within a project (not in Advanced Roadmaps.)

My hierarchy is Theme < Initiative < Epic < Story < Subtask. Themes exist in a separate overarching project to track  cross project dependencies at the Initiative layer and below, Initiatives are tracked in the product team projects.

All the issues, including Initiatives are showing on the Kanban board and the Epics are correctly linked  as "children" of the Initiative using the Parent Issue field. However, only Epic and below are showing in the timeline view.

The documentation in the section What does the project timeline show? indicates that hierarchies above Epic are possible.

The default parent issue type in Jira Software is Epic, which is what we use in this documentation. However, this is a dynamic value based on how your administrator configures the parent issue type. For example, if your project uses feature as the parent issue type, you’ll see Create Feature.

Is there something I am missing in my setup?

Hello @Scott Theus

The Timeline feature is not capable of showing the levels above the Epic issue.

What you are quoting is a reference to another feature that allows changing the name of the Epic issue type from "Epic" to "Feature". The Timeline still can only show up to the level where the original Epic issue type resides, and nothing above that.
