Is there a way to trace all the actions (field updates, screens used) upon an issue status change?

I'm looking for all the actions that took place when transitioning from one status to another. Basically, a trace from one status to another, including what fields were changed and to what value and what screens were used during the transition.

I need this to track down a field overwriting problem.

Hi @Steve Hooczko,

Just the actions that happened are traceable on the History tab at the bottom of your issue details view. You should be able to see there what was changed and who did it.

That does not help you find the configuration / settings involved, but essentially, there's only a couple of things to check:

• the workflow linked to the issue type associated with the project your issue is in. When you select the dropdown displaying your current issue's status and select View workflow, it will tell you what workflow is being used. An admin can then check the transition used for the last status update and see what screen is potentially being used, as well as any post functions that may update any data after the transition executes there.
• automation rules may kick in and update data. It is not uncommon that you will see updates from an automation rule being executed by a different actor than the user who made the transition. Also, on the issue details under automation you can check if there were any recent rules executions.
• scripted updates, if you happen to have any scripting apps in use in your site.
