Is there any method to link an issue to a different project?

Erdős Zoltán April 2, 2020

Hi everyone!

We have a global "SUPPORT" project, that we use for multiple projects for handling support tasks. We use Components there, to see that the issues are related for what product.

We have a project, which is a real, new project, like "Project01" project.

If we need to create a support task for this Project01 once, we create an issue in "SUPPORT". Someone from the support will complete this task, and will doing some worklog in it.

The Project Manager of "Project01" wants to summerize all of the worklogs on this project "Project01", and compare estimated worklogs and the current worklogs. The PM, wants to see the relevant "SUPPORT" issues here too, because it was a cost for the project.

I know, that I can create an epic at "Project01", and we can put all of the relevant SUPPORT tasks into there, after I can make a Board with a modified Query, which would give us all of the "Project01" tasks, and all of the SUPPORT tasks which are under a specific epic. So at this case, we have a good board, it is fine, but we want use the built in Project Reports too, or a plugin to see those tasks together.
The best report would be for us the "Time Tracking Report" report under the project, but we cannot see any "SUPPORT" tasks here.

The second idea was, that If would be a "link issue for Project" feautre, but there is not I think...

What workflow is suit for us to avoid double administration(like we should create a task for SUPPORT, create a task for Project01 and link these issues together)?

Thank you for any help!

Zoli

Hi @Erdős Zoltán - I would create an Epic as the top placeholder. Then you can link any issues on any project to that epic with no problem.

Unfortunately, I am not aware of any other method or tool that will help you then.  :-(
