Is there any risk to current or historical sprints when turning on a setting to enable parallel?

Michelle Ann Barnett June 30, 2023

We've received a request to turn on this global setting so a project can run sprints in parallel.  I'm concerned that introducing this global setting could change history or disrupt other project's kanban boards or schedule dates.  Is there a risk?  We have no way to test this setting.  Thanks for your help.

Hi @Michelle Ann Barnett

It shouldn't do.

Parallel Sprints only impact Scrum Boards, and it just lets a team run multiple sprints concurrently. It's not linked to the historic sprints as far as I know.

I would like to confirm what Stephen said.  Enabling the parallel sprint function does not have any effect on any of your existing sprint data, it just enables you to start more than one sprint.  It's the same if you turn it off - no data will be affected, you just won't be able to start more than one sprint from a board (if you have several sprints in progress when you turn it off, it still does not touch them, you just have to get to the end of all of them before you can start another)
