Is there something wrong with this automation config?

Tony Parsons June 6, 2023

Hi guys. I've created the following automation rule in JIRA but the part where it's supposed to link the cloned issue to the trigger issue is not working. The rest of the rule works. Is there something obvious you can see from this config? automation1.PNG

According to the audit log, the rule was successful and there were no errors but the issue did not link itself to the clone: automation2.PNG

Hi @Tony Parsons,

Try updating your link issue action to most recently created issue instead of trigger issue.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Tony Parsons

As the trigger issue is BM-3, you are trying to link BM-3 with BM-3 currently :)

You should edit your clone issue action and your link there:

So that it will link the new clone issue to the trigger issue BM-3 in your last run ;)

I hope this help.

Dam.

Hi @Dam and @Walter Buggenhout  thanks so much for you assistance and Walters solution worked perfectly. BM-3 is now a parent of IA-107. Now what I need to do is transition the parent to 'in progress' on its respective board when the child is moved to 'in progress' on it's respective board.

What's the simplest way to do that? I'm struggling to find the correct configuration / set of rules for this one
