I have the 'linked issues' field added to all the operation screens (Create, Edit and View) for an issue type in my project, from the Project Settings > Screens. But the field does not appear on any of these screens. In fact, doing a 'Find my field' when trying to create an issue even reports everything as fine (screenshot below).
Looking further, came across some suggestions to ensure that it is also configured against the issue type from Project Settings > layout for the new Jira views. But unfortunately, here the 'linked issues' is not even available in the field list. Is this a bug or am I missing something?
I ran into this as well and have since figured it out: it turns out the project had very restrictive permissions for the Link Issues actions. After updating it to match the Create Issues permission, the Linked Issues fields shows up on the Create Issue screen as expected.
for me - this was 100% the answer to my problem.

I need it to show up on all the issue type screens, even for issues that have already been created. This is because people create related issues afterwards and we then need to link the earlier ones. Also, we sometimes create stories first then issues, and want to link them together.
For me it seems that the linked issues field shows up sometimes but I cannot see why.
What happened to the little link of chain icon?
When I do manage to see the LInked Issues field, it only accepts a number, but when I put an issue number in there, I get this error:

Hi,
I have seen the same issue on our instance, this field despite it's settings (set to visible) is not visible on issue layout. As it is built-in jira field, I believe there are no settings changed in context by users manually.
Is this a known bug for you?
BR,
Michał

Same on our site, we only see the Linked Issues section and the "+" button if an issue already has a link. Only way we can create issue links is on the create screen or using the action menu "..."->"Action Menu ."

THIS is the answer I needed!
ugh - why move it into the Add pulldown?? I couldn't find it!
THANK YOU!!

Is this pull down still in the 4/2025 UI? I cannot find it. We have an Actions pull down offering automations, an Ideas (NEW) field with a + icon, that allows me to link product ideas to the issue.

@Manmohan M two possible causes to it:

Sorry Rafael, I accidentally replied to your post as an answer (and I am not able to delete it now either). But essentially, both the tips didn't work for me.
