Hi, I need some help, please!
In this board, we only have one type of issue, which has many custom fields. One of them hadn’t been used (Description: just with a “-” in it), but since it’s a required Jira field, we couldn’t delete it.
So, I took the custom field "Detalhes", moved its content to the Description field, and then deleted the "Detalhes" field. However, I completely forgot that Jira applies these changes to all cards, and that’s exactly what happened. (This is a common issue, and Jira should definitely show a warning about this!!)
The information in the "Detalhes" field is crucial for our control. Is there any way I could revert this?
I know we can check the issue history, but that’s not very efficient for us.
Please help me!
Hello @Raynara Alves Blaque
Welcome to the Atlassian community
What type of project are you using? Get that information from the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.
Did you delete the field entirely or did you simply remove it from the screen?
Hello,
We are using Businness Project, managed by team.
I just removed the field here, in the project configuration -> issue type.
However, when I put it back, it doesn't haven't the same content.

After dragging the field to the column on the right did you at any point click on its Trash Can icon to completely delete it?
That would delete all data that had been stored in that field also. Creating a new custom field with the same name would not restore the field.
If you did not fully delete the field, how long was the time frame between when you dragged it to the column on the right, and when you went back and dragged it back into the issue layout on the left?
I just did some testing in the same project type with the Short Text and Paragraph custom fields. I added them to the issue type and saved the change. Then I added data to the fields in a specific issue. Then I dragged the fields out of the issue layout and saved the changes. I viewed the issue again and confirmed they were no longer displayed. Then I dragged the fields back into the issue layout, saved the changes, and looked at the issue again. The data I had previously entered into the fields was present.
I have not been able to recreate your experience of the data being deleted, but we need to confirm that I was following the same steps as you.

Oh my God, I can't belive it! It worked now.
Being truly honest with you, I know I didn't fully deteled the item, but I don't remember draggind it back to the layout and seeing if restored, because I panicked and when I asked chatgpt, it said there wasn't any way to restore.
As I was desperate, I just focused on the new cards trying to find the info I've lost.
Thank you so much for your help!
Just to confirm, is there any way of not showing the "Description" on the card? Was now I have this 2 fields with very similar use.

You're welcome.
Have you tried dragging the Description field from the issue layout on the left to the Available Fields area on the right?

Dragging it doesn't work, but that's alright, thank you again for your help!
Could you please help me again?
We're encountering an issue with error Hash 1L3R5G1 when trying to create a new card. The card isn't being created, and this is only happening for a few users.
Reviewed the automation rules (nothing seems to be wrong)
We're both using Google Chrome, so it doesn’t appear to be browser-specific.
Could this issue be related to the recent changes I made?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!

Regarding your question:
Just to confirm, is there any way of not showing the "Description" on the card? Was now I have this 2 fields with very similar use.
It appears that with native Jira functionality it is not possible to remove the Description field from the work item layout, at least in a Team Managed Business project.
I did find it was possible to remove it in Company Managed Business projects.
If you don't want to have both the Description and Detalhes field, you could move the data from the Detalhes field to the Description field and then remove the Detalhes field.
